the demolition has begun . . .

Not even 2 hours after closing on the house, Alex and I found ourselves in the master bedroom closet scrubbing walls and prepping the room for paint.

It has been nearly 3 weeks since then. So far the bedroom, closet and master bath have all had a deep scrub down, walls refinished (via touch ups, spackling, etc) and all painted. It feels great to finally have a few projects completed.

Alex and I are finally up off the floor and sleeping in an actual bed . . . that only took two weeks.

The moving process was quite rushed. We just threw everything in the front TV room.  Funny that everything we own can fit in just one room in the house. . .

We found that many (if not all) of the dry wall nails were surfacing and causing unwanted bumps on the walls. We nailed them in deeper, screwed above and below, and then spackled the damage to get a smooth wall

Here you can see Alex sanding the walls

Nasty surface mold found in a lot of the rooms of the house. Luckily it wasn't anything serious and could be easily cleaned.

Found these two items in the closet under a shelf. . .

This is where Alex and I slept for about 2 weeks after moving into the house. (Den). Mind you we had a nest of baby birds in our chimney which was locate directly to the left of us .  . .  Let's just say we knew the feeding schedule to a "T"

Bathroom demolition. We decided to salvage the vanity, but it needed to be stripped down completely

As you can see, Smee too is hard at work helping with the entire process.

We have done enough sanding to last us a lifetime. I thought I would be clever and cover my face with a bandanna, but that obviously didn't work.

All in all we are having a great time!
